Frequent fliers love to gripe about airlines. And who can blame them? By almost any measure, service at U.S. carriers is at a low.
Just this past summer, the Federal Aviation Administration logged a record number of flight delays. And FlightStats, a firm that tracks planes worldwide, says outright cancellations at U.S. airlines soared to more than 30,000 flights — nearly twice the number of a year ago.
Fliers will tell you, moreover, that coach seats have gotten too cramped; first class no longer is what it used to be; the rollout of in-flight entertainment screens has been far too slow. And then, of course, there's the issue of customer service. Or lack thereof.
Even the U.S. Postal Service, once the poster child for poor customer service, now ranks higher than airlines in the University of Michigan's Customer Satisfaction Index.
Why can't the airlines get it right? Actually, a few carriers do, at least in some areas. Singapore Airlines is praised for everything from its roomier-than-normal seats to its customer service. Southwest wins applause for its upbeat flight attendants. And don't we all wish more airlines had the seat-back TV screens found on JetBlue?

Because their expectations of their fantasy life were far different than the reality, and they end up blowing the so-called best thing that ever happened to them.

The plastic surgeon who reportedly operated on Kanye West's mother before she died had two malpractice suits filed against him that ended in payouts and was arrested twice for driving under the influence, according to medical board records.
The Medical Board of California is investigating whether the license of Dr. Jan Adams should be revoked or suspended after he was arrested twice in the past four years for the alcohol-related offenses, the records say.
Adams told celebrity Web site TMZ that he performed a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Donda West before she died Saturday night at age 58. Adams said she might have died from a heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or massive vomiting.
Preliminary information suggested West died from complications of surgery, said county coroner spokesman Lt. Fred Corral. An autopsy was expected to be conducted by Wednesday.

Pump price to jump 20 cents next 2-3 weeks: government
U.S. consumers could pay record gasoline prices for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday with pump costs expected to climb another 20 cents over the next two to three weeks, the government's top energy forecaster warned on Monday.
Guy Caruso, who heads the U.S. Energy Information Administration, said not all of the recent jump in crude oil prices has been reflected in motor fuel costs which now top $3 a gallon in many parts of the country, about 80 cents more than a year ago.
"We haven't seen the full pass-through (of high oil prices) yet," Caruso told reporters at a briefing on oil market conditions held at Energy Department headquarters. "I would say what's in the pipe right now (for gasoline) is about another 20 cents."
